Postpartum Care

Christy gives an average of three postpartum visits. The first visit is a 24-36 hour home visit. She is checking on the vitals of both mom and baby and making sure that breastfeeding is going well. At this visit, the birth certificate gets completed.

The second visit is also a home visit and it is usually done during the tender time when the milk comes in. She is very supportive of breastfeeding, making sure this relationship between mother and newborn is well established. Christy offers the State Newborn Screening Test (PKU) in your home.

Your midwife asks that the baby be seen for a well-baby check by a pediatrician in the first two weeks of life. Christy is also "on call" 24/7 for new parent support to answer any questions or concerns during the six-week postpartum period.
